South Gloucestershire Fairtrade Network
On 21st September 2006, the South Gloucestershire Fairtrade Network (SGFTN) schools network was launched. As a result, a number of South Gloucestershire primary and secondary schools are working towards becoming Fairtrade certificated schools. This means that they have agreed to meet the criteria which have been established for this purpose.
Certification signals to the whole school (pupils, parents, staff and the wider community) its commitment to the principles of Fairtrade, and its commitment to take practical steps to implement a Fairtrade policy within the school.
It also enables school access to a database of Fairtrade teaching resources, together with some which have been specifically designed for the South Gloucestershire Fairtrade Network (SGFTN).
A discussion forum has also been established for schools to share teaching ideas and other ways in which they are making Fairtrade come alive within their schools.
