Volunteering for 'Make Poverty History' Media Launch

As you may be aware our Make Poverty History campaign media launch is coming up on Friday the 11th of February. It will be an exciting day involving wrapping the Bristol Temple Meads clock tower with a white banner displaying the Make Poverty History logo and photographing MPs and others (e.g. Michael Eavis of Glastonbury Festival, Professor Gordon from Bristol University, possibly the Bishop of Bristol (invited, not yet confirmed) beneath the clock holding giant cardboard letters spelling "poverty" at 11:30 am.

We will be at the station for the entire day communicating to the public the campaign and I was wondering if anybody would be interested in volunteering to do a short 11/2 hour shift at one of the times below.  (Please indicate which time would suit you best.) We would very much appreciate your help or anyone you may know interested in getting involved.

The shift would involve communicating the issues of poverty and the role of Make Poverty History to the interested commuters and encouraging them to sign the Action Cards* There is no selling or appealing involved.  We will have a campaign stand with loads of info and materials to support you, also both Kathleen Christie and I will be at the station all day.

* These MPH Action cards are simple cards addressed to the Prime Minister and make the following points: "In 2005 you can help make poverty history, if you're able and willing to use your international leadership to deliver policy changes on trade justice, debt and aid. (For cards sent in first half on the year) Ill be making my voice heard when you chair the G8 in Scotland in July. This white band is similar to the ones that millions of people in the U.K and around the world will be wearing in 2005 and they all want you to take action."

We have printed very stylish navy blue, with a simple white band across the middle, T-shirts with Make Poverty History printed on them which will be available for you to wear (we have 4 varying sizes).

You may have also seen some images of various celebrities wearing the MPH white bands. Posters of these will, hopefully, be scattered through-out the station and we will have the bands available to buy (suggested donation of £1) at the stand as well as at the cafe, info booth etc.
